The Arctic Ocean is the most forbidding environment on the planet and the Barclays Capital Ultimate North team will wear high performance clothing that can stand up to its frigid temperatures and high humidity, as well as being practical for dog sledging.

The team are extremely grateful to the dozens of equipment suppliers who have supplied much in the way of the expedition equipment and clothing. They would like to give a special mention to Explorers Web for all their help with the technology side of the expedition and to Mountain Hardwear for not only donating the vast majority of the team’s clothing, but also designing a completely new type of jacket specifically for the journey. After a period of consultation and fabric tests in the UK, the red and black expedition jackets that the team will use on the Ice were then designed at Mountain Hardwear HQ in California, before being manufactured in China.
